Department: Eau Claire-Amb Surgery

The surgical technician is a member of the surgical team in the operating room who works with the surgeon, anesthesiologist, certified registered nurse anesthetist and registered nurse delivering direct patient care before, during and after surgery. The surgical technician is responsible for the choice, assembly and sterility of instruments used for procedures, and also for making analytical decisions for the safety and well being of the patient, especially in stressful situations. Performs delegated nursing care duties in both scrub and circulator roles.

Education, training, experience: 
Education:  Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technician program with previous experience preferred.  Must be certified as a Surgical Technician or obtain certification within one year.  
 
License/Certification:  Must be certified in CPR.
 
Experience:  Must possess an intricate knowledge of multiple specialty fields.  Ability to perform all surgical cases. Must perform in emergency situations and is a resource person for O.R. staff (RN, MA, CS).
